Aldabra Giant Tortoise

Aldabra Giant Tortoise

Aldabrachelys gigantea

A living piece of ancient history.

Giants of Time

Originating from the Aldabra Atoll in the Seychelles, the Aldabra giant tortoise is one of the last few surviving species of its kind. And they live a long time, often over 100 years. For them, life is all about patience, balance, and carrying on through generations.

They are known for their long lifespan, often living over 100 years, moving at their own pace through generations.

At La Vanille Nature Park, we are home to one of the largest groups of Aldabra tortoises. This comes from years of breeding, daily care, and the work of our experienced team.

Our Giant Tortoise Savannah was created to give them space to roam freely, graze naturally, and feel at home in a setting that suits them.

How we care for them

Each tortoise is part of a long-term effort to support the species.

From egg to early life, they are carefully looked after. Our team ensures they stay healthy and well nourished.

They grow in open spaces where they can move freely and follow their own pace.

Some will later play a role beyond the park, contributing quietly to natural ecosystems.
